Your skin is the first thing that you notice about yourself and what others notice about you too. Therefore, having a simple skincare regimen is very important. There are many products out there that claim to help improve skin tone and promote a flawless complexion, but the truth is that there is no such thing as instant results… sorry! 🙁
An effective skincare regimen is one that is done consistently over a time before results will begin to develop. Here are a few easy tips that you can slowly do to make them habits that will definitely benefit your skin.
1. Exfoliate
Exfoliating 1-2 times per week will help to remove old skin cells, dirt, oil, and leftover products from your skin. I have an Apricot Exfoliating Facial Lotion, a Dry facial brush and a Bamboo Charcol Konjac sponge that work wonderfully to gently remove excess buildup on your face and Body Sugar Scrubs and Dry body brush for the skin on your body.
2. Avoid Constant Sun Exposure and Tanning Beds
In addition to being dangerous where health is concerned, these may also lead to early signs of aging. Everyone loves a suntan, but there is no reason to sacrifice your skin or your health in order to achieve it. If you are in a position where you need to be in the sun frequently, make sure to wear protective clothing and a sunhat, and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF 30. Here are my 10 Sunscreen Safety tips.
3. Chapped Lips
If your lips have a tendency to become chapped, using a natural lip balm will help keep your lips hydrated and happy. I have a chocolate lip scrub to cleanse, exfoliate, and condition your lips. As well as some lip balm options here. Pro tip: Purchase a few to always have one handy!
4. Hydrated Skin = Happy Skin
Dry or cracked skin can be very unbearable. Keep a small container of hand lotion to moisturize on the go! And make sure to use a body lotion or body butter after showering or bathing, especially on parts where the skin is roughest: elbows, knees, and heels.
5. Know Your Skin
When trying out a new item, make sure to apply a small portion to one area of the skin before using it, just to make sure you do not have a reaction. This is important: Always read the label, you never know what is hiding in certain products! Taking a few extra minutes to research is totally worth having the skin you love. Here are the dirty dozen products to avoid in your skincare products.
The tips in this article are simple skin hacks that are good for anyone to implement. You should, however, consult your doctor prior to beginning any skin care regimen if you have been diagnosed with any disorder involving the skin.
